SIGNS YOU NEED AN AC SERVICE:
• Smelly air
• Increase in electricity bills
• High level of humidity inside
• Not sufficient air flow
• Unusual noises or water dripping from your ac unit
• Tighten all electrical connections
This ensures your electrical connections are operating safely. Checking and tightening electrical connections also helps improve the lifespan of your heating and cooling system.
• Inspect, clean, and change your air filter
This ensures that you have a working and clean air filter that is suitable for your existing system.
Although you are able to change your filter yourself (and you should!), your HVAC contractor might point out a better filter or filtration system that you should be using.
• Fix refrigerant leaks and recharge refrigerant (if necessary)
This ensures your air conditioner’s refrigerant charge and make sure it meets manufacturer specifications –too much or too little refrigerant causes problems with the moving parts of your HVAC system, including the compressor and condenser.
• Thermostat Settings
This ensures your thermostat is installed properly and away from all heat sources, including solar rays, light bulbs, and heat-producing appliances.
• Check and clear condensate drain line
This ensures that your condensate drain line is clean and clear. If your drain line becomes clogged, this can cause water leaks and other moisture and wetness problems. If you don’t want bacteria, water, and mold in and around your HVAC system, call your HVAC contractor to check and clear your condensate drain line. Leaks can also be caused if you have a cracked condensate drain pain. Your HVAC contractor will also be able to repair or replace any leaking condensate drain pans that you may have.
